RentGrow Denied Me Because of an Eviction That Was Paid

If RentGrow denied your rental application because of an eviction that was already paid, settled, or resolved, you may be dealing with an inaccurate or misleading tenant screening report. Can RentGrow Report a Paid Eviction?

  • Use incorrect court data or third-party information

Tenant screening companies cannot leave out the “good part” of the record — doing so is considered incomplete and misleading, which breaks federal law.

What to Do If RentGrow Denied You Over a Paid Eviction

1. Request your full RentGrow tenant screening report. You have the right to obtain a copy for free if you were denied.

2. Get documentation from the court

Examples:

  • Receipt showing rent was paid

  • Settlement agreement

  • Dismissal order

  • Stipulated agreement

  • Proof of satisfaction of judgment

3. Compare your court documents to what RentGrow reported. Any difference, even small, can be grounds for a dispute.

4. File a dispute with RentGrow. Explain exactly what is wrong and attach your supporting documents.

5. Tell the landlord you are disputing the report. They may reconsider or hold your application open.

6. Contact an FCRA attorney. If RentGrow refused to correct the report or the denial caused financial harm, you may qualify for compensation.
